Vacation Workouts

So you are going on vacation and you want to have fun, but you don't want to come back and feel like...crap? There is no better word for it! Is your fitness instructor going on vacation and you are not sure what you are going to do without her...assuming it is a her?

Here are some workouts that I do on vacation or in my driveway when I am in need of a workout and I want it quick and simple, and, of course, intense!

NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT A JUMP ROPE!

Workout 1: Stacking

Start with exercise one, then add number two, go back to exercise one, then two and add the third, and so on.

  1. 10-Push-ups
  2. 30 sec. Jumping Jax
  3. 10 Frog Leaps
  4. 30 Mountain Climbers (each leg)
  5. 10 Squat Thrusts (with or without the jump)
  6. 30 Seconds of Jump Rope
  7. 10 Lunges (each leg)
  8. 30 High Knees (each leg)
  9. 10 Star Jumps
  10. 30 sec. Planks

Workout 2: 1 minutes intervals

I usually pick a bunch of exercises and do each one for a minute. I start with a 7 minute jog and finish with either a 7 minute slow jog or walk. I use a stop watch, but if you have a smart phone you can easily keep a timer on it. I also always repeat some of the exercise throughout, especially jump roping, jax, and mountain climbers.

Here are just a few:

Workout 3: 4 Exercises, 4 Rounds

The breaks get shorter, and when you get to the last round, there are no breaks. Pick any of the exercises from Workout 2 and fill them in.

Here is an example I like to use with class:

  1. Push-ups
  2. Frog Leaps
  3. Jump Lunges
  4. Squat Thrusts

Workout 4:

Pick any 6 challenging exercises from Workout 2, set a timer for 10 minutes, and do as many rounds as you can in the 10 minutes. Example:

  1. 10 Push-ups
  2. 10 Frog Leaps
  3. 10 Jumping Jax
  4. 10 Jump Lunges
  5. 10 Squat Thrusts
  6. 10 High knees

You may need pen and paper to keep track of how many rounds you do. Sometimes I will take a jog for 10 minutes after I am done and come back and see if I can do it again and get more rounds in. So fun!
